Bellevue, Nebraska, is a part of the Omaha metropolitan area. It began as a trading post for the fur and trapping industry. Although the city neared extinction during the 19th century, the last several decades have seen considerable growth. It borders Omaha on the north and the Offutt Air Force Base on the south.
